What makes pizza so great?

This is the question of the century. Almost everyone loves pizza. It’s something that transcends through cultures, generations, and has no restrictions. Even if you happen to be gluten-free, vegetarian, or lactose intolerant, there’s a pizza for you. But what makes it so great?

I bet we all can remember a time where we had a good conversation with friends over a slice of pizza. I remember when I was younger calling Fridays “pizza Friday.” After a long week of school and work my family would get together and enjoy some greasy, cheesy pizza. This blog is going to explore exactly that. We’re going to figure what makes pizza so great. Is it the toppings? The cheese? The sauce? Or a little bit of it all?

Pizza PieI think pizza goes beyond the actual food itself. The memories bonded over a drunken slice of pizza, or the cheat day when we ‘accidentally’ happen to eat an entire pizza by ourselves are what we remember most. Pizza brings people together with a simple food that is steeped in history. In the most fundamental form, pizza is just bread, cheese, and sauce. I know what you’re thinking, what about all of the toppings?

Yes, those toppings are essential to a great pizza but, fundamentally pizza is just bread with a bunch of stuff on it. Yet the entire world goes crazy trying to find the ‘best pizzeria’ or inventing the newest type of pizza.

From Italy to Chicago, New York to Florida, Spain to Alaska, we’re all just trying to find the best pizza to enjoy with our favorite people. So put on your stretchy pants, crack open a beer, and join us on this saucy adventure.

  1. Love this logo so much! And love the saucy tone of the writing. Great job! My favorite pizza has pepperoni, sun dried tomatoes, and black AND green olives. Most people go "yuck" when they hear green olives...but can't help it, I love em! Looking forward to your pizza reviews - and oh boy do I have stretchy pants!
